Course Description: HeartCode BLS contains all of the lessons from the BLS texts conveniently referenced. Providers can review all of the material from start to fi nish or focus on the topics they feel they need to spend more time on. HeartCode BLS includes all of the exams required for successful completion of the BLS Program. REALISTIC PATIENT SCENARIOS HeartCode BLS now includes microsimulation technology that improves both the educational content and user-friendliness of the program. Providers are presented with realistic patient cases and are required to interact with the program to assess the patient, formulate a treatment plan based on the BLS algorithm, and effect treatment. This technology allows the simulated patient to react accordingly to the treatment provided—good or bad— as part of the learning experience, not just an evaluation. In addition to standard drop-down menus, the on-screen simulations allow the provider to interact directly with the scene images to increase the realism of the scenario. INTELLIGENT DEBRIEFING Upon completion of a given scenario, the provider is presented with a detailed debriefing screen. This debriefi ng is more than just a list of events ending with a score. Providers are presented with an account of their actions, emphasizing both correct and incorrect actions. Suggestions for improvement are offered and all appropriate reference material is hyperlinked to the debriefing, allowing immediate remediation at the conclusion of the scenario. MANIKIN COACH The skills check is now also a self-directed learning module, and not just a test. The Voice Assist Manikin will instruct the provider on how to do compressions, ventilations and CPR. If the manikin detects that the provider is not doing the actions correctly, a voice will immediately give advice on how and what to do better. Once the skills have been demonstrated
Skills Test: After successfully completing Part 1, call our office and schedule a time to perform the skills portion of the training. It is very important to remember to bring the certification that Part 1 has been successfully completed with you to the Skills Test. Upon successfully completely the skills portion, the student will be rewarded with the ACLS Provider Course Completion Card. (2 Year Certification)
Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is HeartCode BLS Part 1? Part 1 features eSimulation technology and scenario-based testing through two realistic, interactive patient cases that allow students to virtually treat an adult and an infant patient. This course will provide individuals the benefits of standardized BLS instruction and improved competency, and may also save time and money compared to classroom-based training. The full course completes the same requirements as the AHA’s BLS for Healthcare Providers Course. Course completion consists of three parts. Part 1, the online, cognitive portion of learning, is combined with a hands-on skills practice and testing session (Parts 2 and 3) for psychomotor CPR skills. The skills session can be performed with an authorized AHA BLS Instructor or on a voice assisted manikin (VAM) system. After students complete Part 1, a Certificate of Completion will be available for them to print. Students must present this certificate at their skills practice and testing session. Q: What is the process for taking HeartCode BLS Part 1? A: Students can earn or renew their provider card in three easy steps: 1. Complete the cognitive computer-based portion (Part 1). 2.
