Course Description:  Medical providers who respond to pediatric cardiovascular emergencies in and out of the hospital enhance their treatment abilities through the American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training. From basic life support to advanced interventions and from airway management to pharmacology and more, professionals hone their skills to save lives. 

Participants learn:
• Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardio-pulmonary arrest
• The systematic approach to pediatric assessment
• Effective respiratory management
• Validate skills for 1- and 2-person CPR and AED skills for infant  and child
• Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
• Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
• Effective resuscitation team dynamics

The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as team leader.
