Course Description: The Heartsaver First Aid with CPR & AED course gives individuals the knowledge to provide appropriate action in an emergency until professional help arrives which is critical to saving lives. Those who need just the Heartsaver CPR or just the First Aid only have to attend the discipline required.
Participants learn how to (CPR & AED):
* Properly perform CPR * Recognize an emergency, strokes and heart attacks
* Recognize and care for choking * Recognize and care for choking
* Use of Barrier Devices * Help in preventing transmission of infectious diseases
* Introduction to the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
Participants will learn how to (First Aid):
* Check an unconscious victim * Recognize an emergency
* Minimize the effects of shock * Use the EMS system/9-1-1
* Treat sudden illnesses, including poisonings and heat and cold emergencies
* Perform First aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, bleeding, and injuries to bones, joints, and muscles, such as sprains and strains.
Please note: This course is not appropriate for students who need certification in a healthcare-level CPR class. Please see Healthcare Provider CPR if you need healthcare-level CPR.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants receive a certification, valid for 2 years.
FYI: Basic CPR & First Aid needs will suffice for most non-healthcare jobs. First Aid is for both professional and the layperson.

AHA Online CPR, AED and First Aid courses
If you cannot find a class date that does not work for you, students can take the AHA Heartsaver CPR, AED & First Aid online class. After you finish the online portion, print the completion certificate and schedule a time to take the skills test at our facility. Upon successful completion of the skills test, we will issue you the AHA Heartsaver CPR, AED & First Aid card immediately. Click here for more information.
